In 1958, a small group of people concerned for the homeless men in Boise started a Mission to help feed and shelter them. From that small soup kitchen and a few cots, Boise Rescue Mission is now the largest nonprofit provider of services to the homeless in the state of Idaho, operating five facilities that provide programs and services to the area’s homeless.
The mission of Boise Rescue Mission is to reach out to the community by teaching the Word of God and providing food, shelter, clothing, medical and mental health care, education and job-search assistance for men, women and children in need. Boise Rescue Mission’s programs are ongoing and operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year.
I have been the Director of the Ministry Center for the Boise Rescue Mission for over one year now. I oversee the maintenance of the facilities, vehicles and the donations which come into our Warehouse. Not only do I oversee the storage, rotation and distribution of all non food items which enter our realm, but also the food donations, collections, purchases and distribution of said food to our facilities and the general public. . As a PAC member, I hope to be a positive influence in the Southwest region, to be an encouragement to others and to assist our fellow agencies in improving communications, services and distribution of food. My goal for us all is that by working together, our community becomes stronger, unified, loving and in doing so, the yoke of hunger and poverty will loosen its grasp on our fellow Idahoans.

I was born in Malad, Idaho, went to school in Meridian and went into the Navy in 1957. I was discharged in 1962 and went to school at UCLA and graduated with a degree in Automotive Science. I lived in Las Vegas, Nevada from 1965 to 1983 and worked in the car industry. In 1982, I purchased a Chevrolet-Oldsmobile dealership in Utah, sold it in 1987 and moved back to Idaho.
In Idaho, I worked for Target Buick and helped open up Bodily RV in 1995. I retired in 1998. I have a cattle ranch that we started in 1988 and still own and operate in Emmett.
I was president of the Emmett Valley Anti-Drug Coalition for 5 years, then one evening the people that were running the food bank at the Methodist Church quit and I was asked to organize the food pantry at the church. So, we organized the Emmett Valley Friendship Coalition, formed a corporate and a board of five directors. A member from five different churches were asked to be on the board. This was December 2007.
This has been one of the most impotant adventures of my life. We have had a food pantry and friendship dinner every Tuesday since then and have never had a problem with the different religious groups.
We feel that we are just the workers and the Lord is in charge. We have several others things we do. We do Toys for Tots every year, we serve a special Thanksgiving dinner. We have Thanksgiving turkeys and food boxes on Christmas and we have Christmas Cheer Toys for Children. We also serve food for the emergency search party crews and fire fighters here in Emmett. We teach classes in money management and cooking and have a community garden of about 2 acres.

Jeff moved to the community of Jerome, Idaho a little over 8 years ago with his wife Liz (who is a teacher in the Jerome School District). Collectively they have 6 children and 10 grandchildren with another due next year.
Shortly after moving to their new home Jeff became involved with the Jerome Food Ministry at the St Jerome’s Catholic Church. The community kitchen was originated over 30 years ago providing meals twice a week and currently feeds over 600 meals a month while providing a safe, loving environment. With the encouragement of the Idaho Food Bank, to bring more food to the community, Martha & Mary’s Food Pantry was opened in 2011 and serves over 650 households per month including distribution of emergency USDA food boxes. The ministry is 100% volunteer and joined by over 25 local church, civic and service organizations.
Another passion of Jeff’s is hunting big game. Jeff combined hunting and feeding the hungry by resurrecting a non-profit named “Idaho Hunters Feeding the Hungry” (IHFH). They provide nutritious big game meat to area food pantries. With the help of hunters and meat processors throughout the state of Idaho, hunters can donate all or a portion of their harvest to the food insecure families within their local communities. IHFH celebrates the tradition of hunting with respect for the animals and provides the much needed protein to those in most need. More information is available on their website www.ihfh.org

I was born and raised in Nampa, graduated from Nampa High and Idaho State University and later from UNR. I was a school counselor for 30 Years in a middle school in Nevada. After I retired we moved back to Idaho. One day my mother asked me to help with the Thanksgiving baskets at St Vincent’s food pantry. After my husband passed I began to work at the food pantry and eventually became the manager.

Tim Lopez has been serving the low-income and underrepresented population for over 30 years. He served as a Senior Executive for Community Council of Idaho for 15 years, where he developed over $30 million dollars worth of housing and community development programs throughout the State of Idaho.
Tim left his position with Community Council of Idaho, to accept the CEO position at the Housing Authority of Malheur and Harney County in Ontario, Or. Before accepting his current position of Executive Director for El Ada Community Action Partnership, he was a Development Consultant. As a Consultant, he assisted several major Idaho Non-Profit organizations with their expansions (totaling over $9 million dollars).
