The Idaho Food Bank Fund

Thousands of children, families, and senior citizens across Idaho depend on access to free emergency food. The Idaho Food Bank Fund provides financial support to local nonprofits who offer this important service in their communities. Grant awards help these organizations—which are often volunteer-driven—cover vital costs and activities associated with their work.

The Fund was established by the Idaho State Legislature in 2009 and monies are accepted on behalf of donors by the Idaho Tax Commission through what is commonly known as a ‘tax check off’ on Idaho State tax returns. The Idaho Foodbank is the recognized fiduciary agent for the Idaho Food Bank Fund, which is administered through an agreement between three statewide organizations: The Idaho Foodbank, Catholic Charities of Idaho, and the Community Action Partnership Association of Idaho. Idaho Food Bank Fund legislation reads:

57-824. There is hereby created in the state treasury, the Idaho Food Bank Fund. Moneys in the fund shall be appropriated to The Idaho Foodbank to provide food, information and support services to hungry people of this state through partnerships with nonprofit agencies, the food industry, government, volunteers, corporations and individuals by serving as a central clearinghouse for donated and purchased food.
